DeMars Pension Consulting Services, Inc. has been providing full-service employer sponsored retirement plan administration and consulting since 1979. DeMars Pension Consulting Services, Inc. assists employers in the design, implementation, administration and communication of a wide range of retirement plans. We are committed to providing these services to our clients in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner.
Our benefit professionals are dedicated to helping employers implement retirement plans that promote corporate goals and objectives, control costs and give employees a sense of security.
Our People
Our current staff of 30 employees has a combined experience in excess of 700 years in the retirement planning industry. We have nine plan administrators that average 30 years of experience and an ERISA attorney with 41 years of experience. Our management and key plan administrative staff have substantial years of service with our company. They are committed to providing our clients with friendly, courteous and responsive personalized services of superior quality. DeMars Pension Consulting Services, Inc. is employee owned with nine employee stockholders.
Jim DeMars
Jim DeMars entered the retirement planning field in January 1969 and moved to the Kansas City area later that year. After working for two firms he founded DeMars Pension Consulting Services, Inc. in June 1979. He is a consultant with more than 55 years of experience in the qualified plan market. Jim’s primary responsibility is consulting, plan design and marketing for the firm. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Dakota.
John Finn, J.D.
John joined the firm in January 1986 and has 41 years of experience in the qualified plan market. His responsibilities include plan installation services, amendments and he serves as the Internal Revenue Service liaison. John researches compliance, legal and administration questions for staff, referral sources, and clients and processes plan terminations with the Internal Revenue Service and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. John has his Juris Doctorate and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Kansas. He is a member of the American Bar Association.
Joanne Trompeter
Joanne’s responsibilities include administration services for defined contribution plans, including employee stock ownership plans and profit sharing 401(k) plans. She joined the firm in February 1988 and has 52 years of experience in the qualified plan market. Joanne has her Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) and Qualified 401(k) Administrator designations from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA).
Cyndi Johnson
Cyndi’s responsibilities include human resource management and overall business management. She joined the firm in June 1993 and has 44 years of experience with pension consulting firms. Cyndi has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration/Computer Applications and a Masters of Arts in Human Resource Management from Ottawa University of Kansas City. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Mark Mallory
Mark supports sales efforts and provides broker and referral source education. He is responsible for setting up new plans and the conversion of existing plans to new daily valuation platforms. Mark joined the firm in January 1997 and has 32 years of experience in the qualified plan market. Mark has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Emporia State University. Mark holds the Accredited Pension Representative designation offered through the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA).
Susan Joslin
Employed previously by a pension consulting firm providing administration of retirement plans. Joined DeMars Pension Consulting Services, Inc. in October 1984 and has 48 years of experience in the qualified plan market. Responsibilities include administration services for defined contribution plans, including 401(k) plans.
Kimberly Barmann
Kim joined the firm in January 1988 and has 39 years of experience in the qualified plan market. Her responsibilities include actuarial and administration of defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, plan terminations and profit sharing 401(k) plan. Kim has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bethany College.
Truong Nguyen
Truong joined the firm in January 2012 and has 25 years of experience in the qualified plan market. His responsibilities include administration services for defined contribution plans with an emphasis in the administration of profit sharing 401(k) plans. Truong has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Saint Mary University.
Manuel Resto
Employed previously as a Trust Administrator for a pension administration firm. Joined De Mars Pension Consulting Services, Inc. in November 2012 and has 17 years of experience in the qualified plan market. Responsibilities include administration services for defined contribution plans with an emphasis in 401(k) plans. Manuel has a Bachelor of Business Administration/ Accounting from the University of Puerto Rico.
Hope White
Employed previously by a pension consulting firm, an investment firm and a bank trust department. Hope joined DeMars Pension Consulting Services in March 2022 and has 31 years of experience in the qualified plan market. Responsibilities include administration services for defined contribution plans with an emphasis in 401(k) plans.
Jayme Ernst
Employed previously by pension consulting firms. Jayme rejoined DeMars Pension Consulting Services in February 2022 and has 15 years of experience in the qualified plan market. Responsibilities include administration services for defined contribution plans with an emphasis in 401(k) plans. Jayme has a Bachelor’s Degree in Consumer Sciences/Business Administration from Pittsburg State University
Charlene Michaelis
Employed previously by serveral pension consulting firms and an investment firm. Charlene rejoined DeMars Pension Consulting Services in March 2022 and has 26 years of experience in the qualified plan market. Responsibilities include administrative services for defined contribution plans with an emphasis in 401(k) plans. Charlene has an Associates Degree in Accounting from Barton County Community College.
Lisa Kollias
Employed previously by pension administration firms and a Bank Trust departments. Lisa joined DeMars Pension Consulting Services, Inc. in January 2024 and has 28 years of experience in qualified plan market. Responsibilities include administration services for defined contribution plans with an emphasis in 401(k) plans. Lisa has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Oklahoma State University.
Robert Brown
Robert’s responsibilities include management of participant recordkeeping functions including daily contributions, investment splits, distributions, conversions and reconciliation of accounts. He joined the firm in November 2003 and has 35 years of experience in the qualified plan market. Bob has a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting/Human Resources from the University of Iowa and has his Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation.
Marsha Emerson
Marsha joined the firm in April 2005 and has 38 years of experience in the qualified plan market. Responsibilities include client and participant assistance in the preparation of distribution paperwork.
Libby Hostetter
Joined DeMars Pension Consulting Services in January 1998 and has 34 years of experience in the qualified plan market. Employed previously as a Senior Customer Service Representative for a pension firm. Libby has a Bachelor of Science in Theater.
Jeremy Petit
Joined DeMars Pension Consulting Services in February 2007 and has 16 years of experience in the qualified plan market. Responsibilities include overall mangement of Relius Pension Software for completion of Annual Reviews. Jeremy has a Bachelors Degree from Kansas State University.
Michele Haney
Joined DeMars Pension Consulting Services in October 2021. Previous experience includes management of Accounts Receivable/Payable. Michele has her MBA in Business Administration.
